The Housing Choice Voucher program (Section 8) is a rent subsidy program funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and administered by the Bellingham Housing Authority (BHA). This voucher based program is designed to assist lower income families, disabled individuals, and the elderly to find well-maintained housing in the private market in a location of their choosing, at a price they can afford.

Delivers up to 7 nutritionally balanced meals per week to homebound seniors throughout Whatcom County. Meals are provided on a donation-only basis, no eligible senior is turned away due to inability to contribute. Eligible participants must be age 60 or older, homebound, and have difficulty shopping for/and or safely preparing nutritious meals.
Social hour with the queer elder community ages 50+.

Bellingham Public Library provides Outreach services to Bellingham residents who, because of age, illness, or long-term disability, are unable to visit the library in person. Individuals who are confined to their homes may arrange to have a family member, volunteer, or caregiver pick up and deliver pre-selected library materials to them. Monthly service is scheduled at various Assisted Living / Health Care facilities in Bellingham.

Non-medical assistance for aging persons and those with disabilities living in their homes. Homecare workers do everything from housework (grocery shopping, laundry, dishes, etc.) to personal care (dressing, bathing, transferring, etc.). For all income levels, CCS brings affordable, personal care every day, sustaining those who are served with dignity in the home they cherish.
Helps cover services from doctors and other health care providers, outpatient care, home health care, durable medical equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, and other equipment), and many preventive services (screenings, shots or vaccines, and yearly “Wellness” visits). (Included in Original Medicare)

You can join a Medicare drug plan in addition to Original Medicare (Parts A and B), or you get it by joining a Medicare Advantage Plan with drug coverage (Part C). Plans that offer Medicare drug coverage are run by private insurance companies that follow rules set by Medicare.
